Bollywood filmmakers are unable to resist the temptation of making remakes of South Indian films. Even the well-known superstars of our industry have faith in South Indian scripts. This is the reason why films like ‘Rowdy Rathore’, ‘Wanted’, ‘Bachchan Pandey’, ‘Selfie’, ‘Mili’, ‘Shehzada’, ‘Vikram Vedha’ are being made continuously, which are remakes of South Indian films. Director Roshan Andrews’ recent release ‘Deva’ starring Shahid Kapoor is also a remake of ‘Mumbai Police’ released in 2013. Shahid Kapoor has also appeared in films like ‘Kabir Singh’ and ‘Jersey’ before this, which have been successful remakes of South Indian films.
Story of ‘Deva’
The story of a crazy policeman (Shahid Kapoor) begins with a flashback, where he is returning after solving a very big case. Then he meets with an accident and loses his memory. Only his doctor and senior Farhan (Pravesh Rana) know about Deva losing his memory. Before the accident, had told Farhan that he had solved the case. The domineering policeman beats the criminals so ruthlessly without following any protocol that even journalist Diya (Pooja Hegde) writes about him whether he is a policeman or a mafia? Deva is looking for a gangster (Manish Wadhwa) from Mumbai, but every time Deva tries to catch him, the gangster manages to escape from the police. The police department suspects that there is an insider who has joined hands with the criminals.
There is another track in the story where Deva’s brother like friend Rohan (Pavel Gulati) is shot dead on the day he was to be honoured with a bravery award. Deva starts investigating the murder of his friend and the policeman, but by the time he solves the case, he loses his memory.
After losing his memory, Deva is once again assigned Rohan’s case. As Deva digs deeper into the case, he gets clues and when he finally finds the culprit, both he and the audience are shocked.
