The hero entangled between his wife and girlfriend has been a very entertaining subject in our Bollywood. This is the reason why films like ‘Pati Patni Aur Woh’ (1978), ‘Saajan Chale Sasural’, ‘Judai’, ‘Sandwich’, and ‘Govinda Naam Mera’ have always been made. Writer-director Mudassar Aziz takes this series forward. Anyway, Mudassar Aziz has been the director who brought ‘Pati Patni Aur Woh’ on the same lines in 2019 with Kartik Aryan, Bhumi Pednekar and Ananya Pandey. Once again he has brought the story of a husband who is stuck between his ex-wife and his would-be wife.
The story of ‘Mere Husband Ki Biwi’
The story is of Ankur (Arjun Kapoor), who is divorced from his wife Prabhleen Kaur (Bhumi Pednekar). Despite this, he has a hangover of his ex-wife. He gets scary dreams of his wife every now and then, in which his wife keeps torturing him. This is the reason why he cannot even think of falling in love or getting married again. His friend Rehan (Harsh Gujral) constantly encourages him to fall in love with another girl, but Ankur does not dare to do this due to the bad thoughts of his ex-wife Prabhleen. Then one day Ankur meets his college crush Antara Khanna (Rakul Preet) and his heart is touched.
His friend Rehaan also encourages Ankur to take this love forward. Ankur had just finished proposing to his new love Antara Khanna when Prabhleen once again appears in his life like a storm. Due to an accident, Prabhleen has become a victim of a disease called retrograde amnesia. Due to this disease, she has lost her memory of five years. She remembers the beautiful phase of her and Ankur’s love, but she has forgotten that due to a huge rift, both of them have got divorced.
Due to the advice of doctors, Ankur is not able to tell Prabhleen the sad truth of his past. But here Antara and Ankur have started dreaming about their future. In such a situation, there is a competition between Prabhleen and Antara to get Ankur, under which both of them are ready to go to any extent. Now whom will Ankur choose? To know this you will have to watch the film.
‘Mere Husband Ki Biwi’ Movie Review
The title of this film by director Mudassar Aziz, who has given rom-com films like ‘Happy Bhag Jayegi’ and ‘Pati Patni Aur Woh’, gave us the impression that like his previous films, this film will also make you laugh, but due to a weak story and loose screenplay, the film flopped. The film starts on an interesting note, but as the story progresses, it becomes predictable.
The tricks that the two heroines play to get the hero are something we have seen in old films. There are some parts of the film which entertain in parts, but after the interval, the film falls apart. However, director Mudassar Aziz has tried his best to give a message on marriage and companionship through this film. But somewhere he seems to have missed the characterization of his hero. In many scenes, its relevance is not understood.
Talking about music, songs like ‘Ikwari’, ‘Channa Tu Bemisal’, ‘Rabba Mere Ya’ have been well made.
In terms of acting, Arjun Kapoor has played the role of Ankur in a balanced way. He entertains in comedy and emotional moments. Bhumi Pednekar, who advocates female-oriented and issue-based roles, looks fun in the role of a typical Punjabi girl. Rakul Preet has acted with restraint as Antara. She looks beautiful. Harsh Gujral has managed to bring in moments of humor in the role of Rehan. Dino Morea, Kanwaljit Singh, Anita Raj and Tiku Talsania do not seem to have much to do in supporting roles.
