Before his superhit film ‘Uri: The Surgical Strike’, full of valor and patriotism, filmmaker Aditya Dhar had written a love story, Raat Baaki. This was Aditya’s debut film, which he was going to make with Katrina Kaif and Fawad Khan. But destiny had something else in store. Then the Uri attack happened and Fawad became the scourge of everyone’s eyes due to being a Pakistani. A ban was imposed on him and this film was also stopped. But Aditya wrote his new film on the same Uri attacks and surgical strike, which became his identity. Along with this, he also found his love and now wife Yami Gautam, whom he has made the heroine of his love story written 11 years ago and has brought her on Valentine’s Day with ‘Dhoom Dhaam’.
Story of ‘Dhoom Dhaam’
The story of the film is of one night and it is the Suhaagraat of the heroine of the film Koyal Chaddha (Yami Gautam) and the hero Veer Khurana (Pratik Gandhi). Actually, the film starts with the arranged marriage of these two. In the first meeting, Veer, a veterinarian by profession, is told that Koyal is as simple as a cow and the most cultured girl in the world. The very next moment, preparations for their marriage begin. But before the two can even say a few words of love on their Suhaagraat, two gunmen reach there searching for Charlie. In such a situation, both of them have to run away to save their lives in their wedding attire, but during this chaotic journey, Veer encounters a different Koyal, who even dodges the dangerous goons.
Koyal’s magic is not limited to this. She can beat the best in car racing, can drink alcohol like water and can abuse without taking a breath. Not only this, she married Veer to teach a lesson to her cheating boyfriend. Now, how long does their relationship last? Who is Charlie? Why are the goons after them? You will know all this by watching the film.
‘Dhoom Dham’ Movie Review
Directed by Rishabh Seth, this film gives a little ‘Jab We Met’ vibe, where Yami’s fierce style and Prateek’s despondency are tempting. The story moves forward at a fast pace and there are constant twists. But the problem is that writers Aditya Dhar and Arsh Vora wrote this story in 2014 keeping Delhi in mind, whereas in the film it has been based in Mumbai. Due to this, many incidents do not seem real. For example, it is difficult to digest that in today’s time a girl from Mumbai has to hide her personality from her parents or that the parents have turned a blind eye to the fact that they have no idea how their daughter is or what she does.
Similarly, Yami has a very powerful monologue about girls in the film. These things are true for all the girls in the country, but do not seem that relatable in terms of Mumbai. Yami’s goon avatar also seems excessive at times. Also, there is a lack of emotional or romantic moments between Prateek and Yami.
Well, if we talk about acting, Yami is in the front seat and she has handled the steering very well. She seems loud at times, but overall she has done a good job.
Prateek Gandhi is a good actor, but here he has been mostly in the role of a co-passenger. He has not got much chance to show his talent. Prateik Babbar impresses in his cameo, but the other supporting actors do not leave any such impression. The music of ‘Dhoom Dham’ is average and the film is also a simple romantic comedy, which can be watched only for Yami Gautam.
